Hello to all you winter, snow, and Snowmobile lovers. As current President of North coast Snowmobilers for the 2010-2011 season, I would like to give you a brief history and overview of the club. What we mean, stand for, and like to do as a club.
The history of the club was started in 1995 by Bob Nettleton and Glen Tetzloff. They enjoyed snowmobiling and new of others who had like interests. They formed a group of snowmobilers, started the club, and got a non- profit status for the club. Trips were planned and taken as a group that first year. North coast Snowmobilers club continued to enjoy travel to various parts of the country.
As far as what we do as a club we have supported various activities and donated to many organizations time and money over the years. The club promotes snowmobile safety, snow trail safety, and instruction on use and how to ride. The club has held safety courses for children and adults covering snowmobile safety regulations, hand signals, and safe riding practices.
Currently we have approximately 20 members with the main core of the group being a constant.
We try to plan every year for three to four trips to various parts of the country. Possibly trips to Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, and Canada have been taken. Most of the trails are marked, groomed, and travel many miles. In Pennsylvania the Allegany State Forest has beautiful scenery as does the UP of Michigan and Canada.
The club has sponsored and ran snowmobile grass drags at the area fairgrounds. The last grass drags was held in October 2006 at the Ottawa County Fair grounds near Oak Harbor, Ohio. There were 60 sleds and 40 ATV's
racing for prize money and bragging rights. This was a very successful endeavor sponsored by our club.
To compliment the grass drags and any club or activity that wishes to run or sponsor a grass drags we now have a 4 Lane snowmobile/ATV drag light system available for use for their event. Check out the web page information on the Drag Timing Light System. Specs are available on our web site.
As a club we do have parties for members and guests to enjoy. Barbeque in the summer and winter Christmas and snowmobile trip parties.
We welcome any one to join our club. You don't have to own a snowmobile to enjoy our activities. Some of the areas we go to will rent snowmobiles and provide a fun filled trip. We would love to have people who like the winter, snow, snowmobiling, and comradeship of snowmobiling to join our fun filled club.
